New Year, New Being

The universe is not a random set of events. Yep, there is an overarching intelligence that guides everything: the movement of the planets, the growth of a child, the creation of music, even the sacred geometric shapes found in nature. Modern physics has shown that there is one underlying Unified Field that is the basis of everything we see in the world – including us. This field is a vacuum state of consciousness, alive with dynamic, creative, and progressive intelligence. When we tap into that higher, Universal aspect of nature's intelligence, we access the blueprint of creation.

Yet, we have a tendency to think of consciousness as merely a state of awareness of one’s own existence, sensations, thoughts, in our surroundings. But it is so much more. The Laws of Nature reveal the interconnectivity of life is all conscious, very much alive and connected. Therefore, the relationship between cause and effect (aka what’s in the cards) is open for us to tap into.

On a personal level, you experience this as intuition. Also known as your gut feeling, a 6th sense, or fine level of feeling – different names for the same thing. That deep, inner voice of wisdom that points you in the right direction in any given moment is wise and accessible. The question is, can you access it? Can you trust the signals your fine level of feelings deliver?

Well, there are some things that can get in the way, such as dullness from being tired, agitation in the mind/body when you’re stressed, toxins ingested or absorbed from the environment, and the habitual thought patterns that lock us into limiting behaviors. We are like transistor radios that are often filled with noisy static when our nervous system is brimming with over-excitation and fatigue— this is when it gets hard to tune into the right wavelengths (frequencies).

So, how do we get back to that fine station, that subtle wavelength / frequency? I’ve been on a quest in the last three months (still on it) re-learning how to just BE. I spent 10 days with no face cream, no social media, no sugar and no talking, practically, complete isolation from comfort. Two months in, still no social media and writing this hurts my senses. I’m resting regularly as I remember what it is like to settle into the least excited state of awareness, while meditating 4-6 hrs daily.

You don’t have to go to that extreme. But, what I recommend is to begin resting deeply, allowing for stress to be dissolved - for the knots created in the body to begin to untie. How? Meditation facilitates this purification mentally and physically. Every sit has a benefit even if your mind has wandered a thousand times. With mediation, you’re clearer, more perceptive and able to trust your inner sense of what is best. You feel connected, deeply rested and less physically agitated. Why Meditation? Meditation helps us tune into the present moment readily and with daily inquiry. Without this practice of tuning into what is, kindly and curiously, we can feel like a ship at sea without a life vest, blown about by the circumstances of life. By sitting, observing and not reacting, you’re able to see what's going on, right here, right now. You practice cultivating more consciousness.

Consciousness is the essential component to becoming more aware. The more consciousness you have, the more awareness you have of the direction life is taking. When you practice the abilities to capture the present moment, you can let go of the sense that things are happening to you; the sense of being a victim of circumstances dissolves. However, if you're not tuned in to what's happening, you can be a victim of missing the signs of where things are heading. And if you cringe at the sound of the word, “meditation”, call it a sitting practice or resting exercise. Whatever you call it, keep in mind that every sit elicits a slew of benefits, and that being more in tune with present moment connects you to your intuition, the future, and yes, even the stars!
